I have many mixed feelings about the Immigration Law that was passed in Arizona on April 23, 2010, and therefore many mixed feelings about enacting it in Texas. I’m person was an immigrant in this country and specific in the state of Texas until I got my US citizenship in 2008. I do not support the reasoning behind the Immigration Law. From my understanding the law was passed in order to protect Arizona and US citizens. Well, I have heard and see many US citizens expressing their minds saying that illegal immigrants take jobs away from the US citizens, Illegal immigrants don’t pay social security, Immigrants are the primary reason for drugs and crimes in Texas State along the border of Mexico. The reality is that some US citizens never went through the process, heard, read, or even help some immigrant trying to obtain documentation on this country. Some believe the process to obtain a legal status in US is easy and fast. Well, they are so wrong; because the process it’s slow, very expensive fees and the immigration officer’s are rude and disrespectful because they can use their authority against the immigrants. I don’t believe in this idea, because I have seen the majority Hispanic, Chinese, Indian, etc; these population in Texas being a hard work people. Also, they generate to the broken social security system a large amount of dollars because when they used a fake social security card they get a job, they will still paying ever month the deductible from their paychecks towards taxes; However, they would not be able to claim any of the money, and off coarse the federal government keep this money. Another and main reason I do not support and believe in enact the law in Texas its that it will increase stereotyping, and will take away rights of US Citizens. The law passed in Arizona forces everyone to carry documentation with them proving that they are legal. Although I do not support stereotyping, as it usually leads to racism and prejudice, it is something that we do everyday. Since I have not born here; I still have accent with my English as second language. I just have a question, “How do you think officers will approach many people everyday looking at color, race, language. Officers do not have any reason to disrupt people that are going about their day.I do believe that passing this law in Texas would increase stereotyping, but I think that the benefits of this law outweigh the pros.
